Knowing where to turn for help and navigating an unfamiliar landscape of advice and support services present specific challenges for people who have moved to Scotland. Advisors and services can also struggle to know where best to direct migrant service users.
In our policy laboratory we worked with service providers to develop a straight forward signposting tool. We partnered with Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN), building on the model of their ‘Worrying about Money’ leaflet to create a ‘Moved to Scotland and Worrying about Money‘ leaflet suited to meet migrants needs.
The leaflet has an easy to follow step-by-step process:
- The first step on the title page helps you identify what might be worrying you.
- The second step lists different options you might have.
- The final third step provides direct contact details to organisations with more information of how they can help.
Service maps have been produced so far for:
These can be downloaded from the links above or you can order hardcopies from IFAN here [please mark clearly that you wish to order the ‘migrant resource’]
The template we have developed can be populated with appropriate organisations for any local authority area.
If you are interested in developing a service map for your area, or have feedback to share on the existing resource please contact:
