Poverty in migrant households remains a significant and persistent issue across the UK. Evidence consistently shows that migrants are more likely to experience poverty than people who are UK-born. This reflects a combination of structural barriers, including insecure employment, high housing costs, restricted access to welfare support, and the impacts of immigration policy.
This blog, written by MPS researcher Leri Price and published by The Poverty Alliance, discusses Migration Policy Scotland’s work on poverty and our collaborative approach to identifying, designing, and testing new solutions. In particular, it focuses on how partnership working can support more effective and inclusive responses to poverty in migrant households.
