Hong Kongers in Scotland

Description

Join Migration Policy Scotland for an event on Hong Kongers in Scotland on Friday 10 March 2023. This event brings together policy makers, practitioners and community organisations to share their knowledge and reflect on what can be done to shape the trajectories of a new migrant group that looks set to grow.

Since the launch of the Hong Kong BN(O) visa route on 31st January 2021 there has been significant increase in the number of Hong Kongers arriving in the UK. How many of these new arrivals come to Scotland and what are their experiences when they get here? Two panels of speakers will share their knowledge of Hong Kongers in Scotland.

  • Where are they based?
  • What are their needs and concerns?
  • And what do Hong Kongers need to flourish in Scotland?

Confirmed Speakers:

  • Augustijn Van Gaalen, Cosla Welcome Hub
  • Timothy Cheung, Hong Kongers in Britain
  • Lucy Mort, Institute for Public Policy Research
  • Mina Ko, UKHK, Welcome Churches
  • Prof Gregory Lee, University of St Andrews
